The state's numbers show nearly 72 percent of high school students graduating, an 11 percent increase from 1998.
The Department of Education claims their calculations are much more accurate compared to the Morgan Quitno press numbers of two weeks ago.
Jennifer Fennell with the department says, "Yes, our numbers are based on very precise calculation that follows every single student from the time they enter ninth grade to the twelfth grade versus other national or state calculations that are based on estimates or averages.”
Democrats in the Legislature accuse Republican leaders of trying to spin bad education numbers to make those numbers look better.
