Learning takes on a whole new meaning as students at one local elementary school experience life in the old days.
Teachers say it's a way for students to take part in hands-on learning. Different stations were set up throughout the field, each activity teaching a lesson in what life was like in early America.
Students say it's a blast.
"It can be a lot of fun, but you have to make stuff to make it fun."
"We got to shave each other's face and all that. We saw some John Deere tractors and horses and had fun and a good time."
Teachers say Pioneer Day coincides with lessons the kids are learning in the classroom about pilgrims, pioneers, and how different life was in early America.
