Law enforcement is looking to get tough on drivers who don't wear their seat belts. They're also cracking down on another major cause of deadly accidents, speeding.
Deputies say it's about making sure people know that seat belts save lives.
DEP Steve Barrows with the Leon County Sheriff's Office says, "We're just trying to get out here and educate. We're not out here to write tickets. We give tickets as an educational tool."
The Thanksgiving holiday period is traditionally one of the deadliest times on Florida roads. Last year 77 people died because of motor vehicle crashes around Thanksgiving. Half of those were not wearing seat belts.
