Members of a mobile health screening team from the Capital Regional Medical Center is touring local businesses around the Big Bend area to introduce what's known as a new "Angio Screen."

Their first stop was here at our WCTV Studios.

Organizers say the tests can prevent various heart related health risks and complications.

The team of physicians screened for any risks of heart attacks by looking at blood circulation and heart rhythm.

They used an ultrasound to check for blockage in some of the major arteries.

Some of our own WCTV employees participated in the screenings, and health officials say the tests only take a few minutes and it's convenient.

Health officials say the tests currently cost $75, and they hope they can set up the new screening tool around the community.

All of the participants received a CD with images from the ultra sound and information about their cardiovascular heath status that they can give to their regular physician.

For the un- or under-insured screening like this and home based screenings from pharmacies and online home health screening companies can be an affordable way to receive some of the needed preventive health care services.
