Over a dozen Wakulla County leaders hit the books Monday, learning how to respond to a major emergency.
The scenario: a semi-trailer crashes in front of Wakulla High School, leaving a cloud of chemical gas at the scene. Emergency crews must act quickly and school officials must keep students out of harm’s way.
It's a mock drill that Wakulla County wants to be prepared for.
Joe Blanchard, Wakulla County EOC Director, says, “It's something that brings all emergency facets together, brings us under the incident command system.”
The classroom drill will move into the field this summer when emergency officials try out another scenario inside Wakulla High School.
