A suspect is behind bars after escaping from police before he's even led into his jail cell.
"They brought him to the office and interviewed him about possession of firearms with a convicted felon," said MAJ James Morgan with the Gadsden County Sheriff's Office.
While in custody, Gadsden County sheriff's officers found out 18-year-old Curtis Dixon, Jr. had also violated his probation on drug charges.
Police arrested Dixon and drove him to the jail for booking.
"Once he got into the jail parking area the suspect jumped out of the back window of the patrol car and ran. That's when we called K-9 and we started searching the area, blocking off the area, searching for him and the K-9 find him in the back of the woods behind the Big Bend Wrecker Service Center."
Investigators say the search lasted about 45 minutes.
