Christmas Shopping Crosses County Lines

By  |

Until their new Wal-Mart opens, Wakulla County residents will continue to cross county lines in search of bargains.

With Christmas season upon us the bulk of residents travel 20 or more miles for shopping sprees. Many say they have to plan accordingly, beginning early in the season to save time and gas. Most folks usually travel to Tallahassee in search of big ticket items.

King "Bo" Howard, a Wakulla County resident, says, "One thing about here, the biggest thing we have is Winn-Dixie, so they have to go up there to get other gifts.”

But with Wal-Mart planning to open in the spring of 2006, many residents say they'll be shopping closer to home next Christmas.
