Club Shooting

There have been three shootings in a matter of weeks. The most recent is a fight in a club parking lot, ending with one man in serious condition.

Shortly after 2:00 a.m. Sunday Tallahassee police received a call about a fight outside Baja's night club on Pensacola Street. When police arrived on scene they discovered a college-aged male who was shot multiple times.

LT Ken Bergstrom with the Tallahassee Police Department comments on the victim’s condition.

"Our victim was struck in the lower back two different times, two different places; currently is in the hospital in serious but stable condition."

And while the victim is recuperating at Tallahassee Memorial Hospital investigators are searching for a suspect in the shooting.

Bergstrom adds, "The only description we've got of the suspect is a black male approximately college age wearing a white button down shirt and jeans. He was last seen walking towards McDonald’s."

Just last week, shots rang out in the Chubby’s night club parking lot. College students who frequent those clubs express their concerns about the shooting incidents.

Michael Eger, a student, said, "I don't know if it would keep me from going out, but I would definitely be on my guard, on my best guard."

Adam Mason, another student, adds, "I think it's like an isolated incident, you know. Tallahassee probably is like the most safest place. There's like cops everywhere, tons of them."

Police say these shootings are not random acts. They seem to be incidents occurring between people who know each other.
