Zooming around on your golf cart is now legal in one coastal town.

Wakulla County commissioners have designated Shell Point, Florida a golf cart community. This means residents can share designated county roads with cars without fear of being ticketed.

Many say they like the idea, especially when it comes to liability issues.

Ted Gaupin, a Shell Point resident, says, "It gives protection to golf cart owners, if someone hit him before the law passed, he would have liability for the car.”

Residents say 90 percent of the community drives a golf cart rather than a car. The new designation requires those residents to help pay for road signs and safety equipment for their carts.
