The next time you enter the Wakulla County Courthouse prepare to empty those pockets. Heightened security is the reason.

An administrative order by 2nd Circuit Court Judge Charles Frances prompted the immediate action.

Now all visitors and employees must be screened and their belongings scanned under an x-ray before entering the building.

LT Clint Welch with the Wakulla County Sheriff's Office says, "At first we thought people wouldn't like it, but they do. It has helped us, all employees are more comfortable.

To speed up the process, deputies recommend you empty all your pockets before entering the courthouse.
