A vision becomes reality. It's all the result of neighbors who decided to take their own initiative to create a fun and safe place for kids.
The Baker Park in Live Oak is ready for fun. Almost four years ago, Julie Ulmer gathered her neighborhood watch together and got any and all who would listen to bring her dream of a safe place for kids to life.
Building only took about a month once they received the $50,000 grant from the Florida Department of Environmental Protection.
Ulmer says the park's location within the Baker community allows neighbors to help keep an eye out on the kids, and with a pavilion next to the playground, the park will also serve as a gathering spot for community events.
