A New Year's Day confession may have closed the books on five armed robberies in Tallahassee.
Among the hold ups were four convenience stores and a motel on North Monroe Street.
Robbery task force investigators say the man was arrested in Monticello for shooting off his gun New Year's night and then started talking.
DET Lee Fuller says, "He's from Leon County, but he was arrested in Jefferson County. Once he was initially arrested, then he started talking about robberies that he did in the Tallahassee area and ultimately confessed to five of them."
Twenty-two-year-old John Stewart is now facing five counts of armed robbery. Stewart told investigators he needed the money because he was about to get evicted from his apartment, but ultimately didn't make enough from the holdups to pay his rent.
