If the freezing temperatures are sending a chill up your spine when you think about that upcoming utility bill, the City of Tallahassee has a few tips to ease that pain.
To help cut down on costs, if you heat your home with an electric heat pump, the city recommends you reduce the temperature to 65 degrees overnight and when you turn it back up, only do it two to three degrees at a time.
Have a gas or oil furnace. Set your dial from 55 to 60 degrees overnight, and for an electric strip heater, set the dial from 55 to 60 degrees.
It also doesn't hurt to dress warmly, it will ease the utility bill pain later!
