The Maloy legal fees battle continues. The Leon County Commissioner’s Office says the First District Court of Appeals reversed a previous decision that now lies in favor of the county.
The previous ruling in August by Judge Michael Miller said the county would have to pay attorney Stephen Dobson more than $130,000 in legal fees. The county appealed and the court reversed that decision.
That means the Florida Department of Transportation, Maloy's former employer, may have to help pay the legal fees. Maloy had been accused of turning in the same travel receipts as a county employee and dot employee.
The issue was whether he was considered a "public official" at DOT. More appeals are expected.
