If you're headed out on the roads this holiday weekend, you're not alone.
AAA expects 51 million motorists to travel this holiday. With the heavy traffic, the Florida Highway Patrol wants to make sure travelers are safe.
This weekend troopers will be on the roads or in the skies enforcing the law. LT John Bagnardi reminds Floridians to be defensive drivers.
"If you are responsible with your actions, whether it involves alcohol, whether it involves speed, whether it involves traveling long distances, if you're responsible, hopefully it'll make you think, because life is too short,” Bagnardi advises.
Officers want to remind drivers to slow down, pay attention and give yourself plenty of travel time.
