A local youth choir is starting the trip of a lifetime, traveling halfway around the world to sing for the Pope at his New Year’s Day mass in Rome.
The smooth sound of the St. John's Catholic Church Youth Choir has earned them a trip to sing before the Pope on New Year’s Day. It’s a performance that every choir member is looking forward to.
Only 10 youth groups from America have been invited to sing for the New Year’s Day mass, an honor that is not lost on these young singers.
"I think its going to be a great experience, especially singing for the Pope. So many people have said, 'Oh my gosh! I've only seen the Pope on TV.' So I think it will be cool to see him in person."
The week long trip to Rome is certainly going to change the lives of these young singers, and when this choir returns home, they'll have memories to share with friends and family for a lifetime to come.
The St. John's Youth Choir is able to make the trip thanks to a year of fundraisers like car washes, and of course support from the Valdosta community and their families.
