While local retails stores are enjoying the last of the holiday rush, shop managers in Lake Park, Georgia say 2005 was great year.
After some tough times, the Lake Park outlets enjoyed a strong year of store additions and job growth.
Ten new stores were added to the outlet center, helping attract more shoppers to south Georgia.
The growth has been a major boost to Lake Park, as area businesses have enjoyed a swell of business as well. Outlet managers say 2005 proved to be good to many local folks.
Linda Lester, manager of Lake Park Outlets, says, "Not only is it good for the outlet mall, but it’s good for the employees. We've added over 100 new jobs. We're back up to 300 employees at the outlet stores now and our occupancy has increased back up to 85 percent."
Property managers expect retail to continue to grow well into 2006, with several new stores planned to open in Lake Park.
