There was a final farewell to a local police officer, his wife and nine-year-old son laid to rest, killed in a holiday weekend car crash.
Funeral services for Perry Police OFC Robert Johns, his wife Kimberly and their son Brett was at First Baptist Church.
The Johns family was killed early Christmas Eve morning when a truck crashed into them on county road 360 in Madison County. The Johns family was returning from vacation in North Carolina.
The driver of the truck, 19-year-old Paul Williams, had been drinking.
Donna O'Steen, a friend of the Johns family, says, "If you're going to drink, please do not drive. It has affected not only the Robertsons and the Johns, but the family of the child that hit them head-on. My prayers have been with them also because I know they're hurting. I pray that God will bless everybody."
Williams also died immediately after the collision. Funeral plans haven't been finalized yet, but are being arranged by Ganzy Funeral Home in Madison.
OFC Johns also has a 19-year-old son who was not in the car at the time of the crash. An account has been set up at Citizens Bank in Perry for Kevin Johns if anyone would like to make contributions.
