It was a frightening night for some residents of a Tallahassee apartment complex.
Police say a man knocked on several doors at The Willows apartment complex on Jackson Bluff Road.
Before a woman opened her door, police say the man barged in, choked her and tried to rip her clothes off.
SGT Mark Meadows with the Tallahassee Police Department says, "Forced his way inside, attacked the resident inside, not really sure what the motivation was. She was able to get away and defend herself and the guy fled away. I think the lesson here is it's a natural human instinct when somebody knocks on the door your instinct is to open it and see who it is. It's polite to do that, not scream through the door, but it's not necessarily safe to do that."
Police are stopping short of calling this a rape attempt, but say residents should be on the lookout for the suspect: a black man in his 20s, short and thin, 5'6”, about 150 pounds, last seen wearing a black, blue and white shirt and baggy pants.
