If you think a hangover is the only thing to worry about when popping a bottle of champagne, think again.
The American Academy of Pathology says, "Champagne corks are one of the most common holiday related hazards to the eyes."
They offer a few tips to safely open a bottle of bubbly. Chill your champagne; a warm bottle is more likely to pop unexpectedly.
Place a towel over the entire top of the bottle and twist the cork, don't try to use your thumbs to pop the top off.
