Tallahassee Duplex Fire Causes 40K In Damages

At 8:04 PM, the Tallahassee Fire Department received a call of a structure fire on the 6000 block of North Placid Place. Upon arrival, firefighters were met with heavy smoke and fire coming from the rear of the duplex. The fire was contained to the kitchen and was quickly extinguished. No one was home at the time of the incident and no injuries were reported on scene. The adjacent duplex received minimal smoke damage. Red Cross assisted 1 adult and 2 children that were displaced from their residence.

Leon County Sheriffs Office and Leon County EMS also assisted on scene. The total damages were estimated at 40,000 dollars. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
