Lotto fever is spreading through Georgia and several other states as Tuesday night’s $125 million Mega Million drawing gets closer.

Store owners say ticket sales really started picking up Tuesday afternoon as people decided to take another shot at a huge pay day.

Lines at convenience stores in 10 states, including Georgia, are growing by the minute. Mega Million lotto players say they know their chances are slim, but they figure a $125 million jackpot is worth the gamble.

The $125 million jackpot is the largest in the country right now.

Georgia is not stranger to big jackpot winners. Last April, a Lawrenceville woman won more that $58 million out of a $331 million drawing. Local players say they hope they are the next Georgian to win big.

In Florida, the odds are much better with each ticket having a 1 in 22 million chance of winning. Despite the low odds of the Mega Millions game, people are still willing to take the chance.

Ticket sales are expected to be strong across Georgia leading up to the 11 p.m. drawing. The chances of winning the jackpot are small, but there’s still a lot of money to be won. For example, the last drawing rolled over without a main winner, but it produced nearly $6.50 in winnings.
