Midnight Saturday night is the deadline to mail out any 37 cent stamps you may still have.
After the midnight deadline, all first class mail will require the new 39 cent stamps.
The Post Office in Cairo, Georgia wasn't too busy with last minute mailers, and everyone seemed to know about the upcoming postage hike.
Amy Gerleman works for the postal service and says, "Any time you have a stamp increase people are going to complain. However, with this stamp increase and it only being 39 cents people have been extremely agreeable; the transition has been going really well."
Postal workers say if first class mail does not have a 39-cent stamp on it, either two cents will be requested from the receiver of mail or the letter will be returned to the sender.
