Tallahassee, FL - A Tallahassee man is facing felony charges-- he's accused of kicking and beating his dog.
Obi is an 8 month old pit bull-boxer mix. Vets at the Animal Service Center say he has a broken femur, but it may be a previous injury. His owner was arrested and charged with animal cruelty yesterday. Arrest reports say a neighbor banged on his door and called police because she couldn't stand to hear the dog crying anymore.
Neighbor: "I saw him pick the dog up by the throat and toss him into the house, and I saw him up against the wall, kicking him-- I could hear the thud against the wall, and the constant beatings."
Officer Dave Northway, Tallahassee Police Department: " We want people to know that the police department takes these charges just as seriously as any other charges. This is a felony. We are not going to stand for people abusing their animals or defenseless animals.
Kieshon Ebanks has already posted bond and been released from jail. Police say they've already started proceedings to remove the dog from his home permanently.
