UPDATE 5:42 p.m.

Christopher Harrison, 23, of Tallahassee was arrested Wednesday by the Tallahassee Police. He faces charges including soliciting a minor online and traveling to meet a child.

Police say it all started when Harrison answered an online ad.

"People are going to try different things and just as they're trying different things, the police officers that are on the other end are also trying different things.," said TPD Officer Dave Northway.

According to the arrest report, Harrison believed he was chatting with a 12-year-old girl.

It turned out to be an undercover investigator. Harrison is also accused of texting and sending several graphic photos to the officer.

Many predators try to get the phone numbers of their victims and nowadays, with the internet and social media on their phones, it's a lot easier to get that information.

"We want to remind parents to be aware of all social media access not only the computer that may be in the house."

The Department of Children and Families says staying involved in your child's life can help prevent situations like these from becoming a reality.

"Ask questions," said spokesman Whitney Ray. "Be engaged. Say, 'who are you talking to, well who is this person?'"

According to the Tallahassee Police Department

A Tallahassee man is behind bars after soliciting a minor for sex.

23-year-old Christopher Harrison responded to an ad on a website geared towards contacting children for sex.

An undercover Tallahassee police officer posed as a 12-year-old girl, whom Harrison then sent naked photos and explicit text messages and emails.

He arranged to meet the "child" yesterday, July 24, 2013, referencing specific sex acts they could do, however, Harrison was arrested as soon as he arrived at the meeting place.

He is charged with online solicitation of a minor, other related charges, as well as violation of probation, stemming from a disorderly conduct arrest in May of 2013.
