A Shalimar man is behind bars in Tallahassee after police say he stole a car and led them on a chase and then crashed the stolen car into a tree.

Tallahassee police say an FSU student was getting in her red Mustang in a parking lot on Stadium Road when 23-year-old Zachary Trone told her he was an ark angel and God told him to steal her car.

"Asked her for the key first, and her boyfriend who happened to be in the same lot walked over to find out what was going on. He said if you don't give me the keys, I'll kill your boyfriend," said LT Taltha White with the Tallahassee Police Department.

White says the student handed over the keys. Then the suspect led police on a car chase before crashing into a tree near Meyers Park. The suspect got out and took off on foot, but a canine officer took him down a few minutes later.

Trone is charged with carjacking and aggravated fleeing and alluding.
