Rose City officials say semi trucks and tractor trailers are damaging roads, holding up traffic and endangering other drivers on narrow downtown streets.
City officials say truck drivers need to use the Thomasville bypass instead of Jackson Street.
Roy Campbell, Thomasville City Council, At-Large, says, "These are trucks that are just passing through town. If they're making a delivery here in Thomasville, we're going to make sure they get to that point, but if they come through and they have an Ohio tag and they're going somewhere else, we're going to give them a ticket."
Campbell says city has paid the state for the rights to the downtown portion of U.S. 319 and says that transaction should be complete within the next 30 days.
