Most health care providers are focused on just keeping their patients healthy, but one local hospital has been recognized for its efforts to keep its employees feeling good.
The Wellness Council of America has named South Georgia Medical Center in Valdosta as a "silver" well workplace.
The hospital is doing the best job in the Valdosta area of keeping employees healthy, and administrators say it’s good for everyone involved.
Charles Eidson with SGMC Human Resources says, "A healthy workplace is a much more productive workplace. A healthy workplace reduces the number of sick days a person misses. A healthy workplace lessens the spread of colds."
Administrators with SGMC encourage more companies to take part in the "well workplace" program, saying it’s a good start to lowering the cost of employee health care.
