A "hair-raising" event is taking place in Tallahassee for the first time this weekend.
Stylist Mary Baker has coordinated the 2006 low-income braiding program. This Saturday men, women and children can get their hair braided for free.
Baker believes there is a strong correlation between lookin' good and feelin' good.
Baker says, "I get tired of seeing people not helping other people. People need their hair done, so if they have their hair done they feel better about themselves. Even if they don't have on good clothes at least with your hair done you can feel a little bit better."
About 10 braiders will be on hand at the Walker Ford Community Center from noon to five on Saturday. All they ask is that you come with your hair freshly washed. Donations will be accepted.
