Thomasville firefighters are called to an apartment fire, and hours later a man is behind bars, suspected of felony arson.
Thomas County deputies say they were called to investigate an apartment fire on shore line drive, just outside of Thomasville.
They say almost all of the victim's belongings were destroyed. Investigators say the suspect in the case is the victim's ex-boyfriend.
Robert Brettel, an investigator with the Thomas County Sheriff's Office, says, "He had been seen there earlier prior to the fire as the victim and her sister left the residence. Also, according to the victim, he had threatened to burn her property."
Twenty-three-year-old Torrieo Johnson is charged with first degree arson and aggravated stalking. Both are felonies.
Investigators say there have been recent reports of domestic violence involving Johnson.
