Top Teacher at East Gadsden

Cyrilla Hackley was voted Teacher of the Year by the Florida African-American Education Alliance. She was nominated by her peers and community leaders.

Hackley says the county has a lot of qualified teachers who should also be acknowledged for their hard work.

Hackley says, "It just recognizes Gadsden County to let people know that although we might be a D school that there are some very hardworking teachers in the area and I'm talking about teachers that go beyond working seven to eight hours a day."

Hackley was one of several teachers chosen for this prestigious award. She received the honor on Monday in Orlando.
