FDA Celebration Comes to FAMU

Students of Florida A&M University take time out for a birthday celebration. This year the Food and Drug Administration is celebrating 100 years of service.

This year special events are scheduled across the nation. The federal agency made a stop at FAMU to commemorate the centennial by teaching the importance of healthy eating.

"The majority of folks in this state don't practice regular physical activity. It's now an opportunity for the Department of Health to show leadership and inspire Floridians to become active," says M. Rony Francois, Florida's health secretary.

In 1906, the Food and Drug Act was signed by President Teddy Roosevelt to ensure the protection of products essential for health and survival.
