Boca Raton Rep. Irv Slosberg filed a bill that would pre-certify businesses to be official disaster supply distributors.
Slosberg says this would help residents get to know where they can go for emergency supplies when disaster strikes.
Rep. Irv Slosberg, (D) Boca Raton, says, “When you’re in crisis, those first couple of days we’re waiting in these six-hour lines; we don’t have to wait in these six-hour lines. We’re going to eliminate the uncertainty. We’re going to know exactly where to go for what supplies.”
Businesses would have to pay a license fee to be considered an official disaster supplier, with the money raised to go toward disaster preparedness in the local community.
The bill will be taken up when the legislative session starts in March.
