Thomasville, GA - After more than 150 years in business, a Georgia store is closing its doors for good.
Jerger Jewelers has been in Downtown Thomasville since 1857.
The jewelry store is still located in the same building along Broad Street, with much of its same architecture from the 1800's.
The current owner of the once family-owned business, Philip Faulk, announced plans to retire after more than 20 years.
Faulk says it's going to be tough to say goodbye to a piece of city's history.
"It's amazing the number of people that come in here, older people, and talk about buying their engagement rings here back in the thirties or forties; so that's always nice to hear those kind of stories."
Faulk has not yet set an official close date but says he expects it will be within the next month or so.
