WANTED: Suspect Fled Vehicle During Traffic Stop

On 9-26-13 at approximately 9:09 pm a Deputy from the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office affected a traffic stop on a vehicle near the intersection of Hwy 90 East and Hwy 71 South for an expired tag.

As the vehicle was coming to a stop, the passenger exited the vehicle and fled on foot into the area of Commercial Park Dr. As the passenger fled, he was observed to be carrying what appeared to be a white bag or pillow case with unknown contents.

The driver, Randy Howell Spencer, was detained and subsequently arrested for felony driving while license suspended. (3rd Offense). He was lodged in the Jackson County Correctional Facility to await first appearance.

The K-9 tracking teams from Jackson Correctional Institute and Apalachee Correctional Institute responded to the scene and attempted to locate the subject that fled on foot to no avail. The investigation into his identity is ongoing.
