Pedestrian Struck By School Bus

Tallahassee, FL - A Leon County school bus hit a man Friday morning while the man was walking across the street.

It happened around 6:30.

Tallahassee Police say the school bus was driving north on Mission Road, and say as it was turning right onto Tharpe Street, the bus hit a man who walking across the street.

The man has not been identified.

TPD Spokesperson Officer David Northway says, "The pedestrian was taken to a local hospital for treatment and he is expected to recover from his injuries. The school bus didn't have any children in it at all. It was just the bus driver going along their morning route."

The name of the bus driver has not been released. As per standard procedures, the school district spokesperson says the driver had to be tested for alcohol or drug impairment.

No charges have been filed at this time. The investigation is still ongoing.

Around 6:30 this morning, a Leon County school bus was traveling north on Mission Road trying to make a right hand turn on Tharpe Street when it struck a man crossing the street.

At the time of the incident, no children were on the bus.

The pedestrian was taken to the hospital with injuries, but is expected to recover.
