FCAT Writing

At Stewart Street Elementary School in Quincy, teachers are working closely with students monitoring their progress.

Instructors are blocking off an hour and a half every day working on sample writings with the students, and they're motivating the kids to score high marks on the test.

Lisa Robinson, Assistant Principal, says, "What I've been able to do is pinpoint their weakness, whatever they're weak in, as compared to a whole group lesson, and when you work one-on-one with them you can see where they need help and you can remediate that instantly."

Gadsden County teachers are optimistic. They say these elementary students will heed their motto and "stampede out on the FCAT," proving that with a little help they can make the grade.
