U.S. Representative Jack Kingston is serving in his eighth term. But instead of spending time with national political leaders, he spent time with local business leaders to discuss important issues in this community, and they're also important on a national level.

Kingston says, "We're gonna talk about some of their issues at health care and illegal immigration and energy."

Kingston also highlighted one important local issue- the Moody Housing Project.

More than a year ago, the contractor of the housing project defaulted.

Kingston is pushing a bill through congress that will require the Air Force to set up a hotline for local subcontractors to find out the latest status on the project.

"We want in the negotiations between the new contractor Hunt Pinnacle and the Air Force, we want them to include money for the subcontractors," Kingston says.

John Eunice Valdosta City Commissioner-at-large says, "I think that Congressman Kingston is doing all he can do on the Moody Housing Issue, unfortunately he's not the final say-so on the matter, it's an Air Force issue."

Edgar Roberts, District 1 County Commissioner says, "We're excited, we're excited, Jack's doing a good job."

Some local leaders say that even in the midst of red tape and legislative bickering, big government can help small communities.

Kingston says the bill may not pass for a while, but he's confident the Air Force will support it.
