Florida Senator Speaks Out on Offshore Drilling

The Interior Department's Minerals Management Service is releasing a draft proposal. Inside is an outer continental shelf leasing plan, which is currently in development.

Proponents say it poses no military or environmental risk to Florida. Opponents like Sen. Bill Nelson disagree.

U.S. Sen. Bill Nelson, (D) Florida, says, "Proponents claim it's a solution to energy problem. It's not. The real solution is not to drill, but to develop alternative sources of energy."

Nelson says the draft program would give Florida-controlled water to pro-drilling Louisiana and open it up right away to new drilling.
