Both the Florida Law Enforcement and Corrections Accreditation Commissions are granting the renewed status to the jail and the office as a whole.
It means the Sheriff's Office lives up to, and in many cases exceeds hundreds of standards with which the agency must comply.
Larry Campbell, Leon County Sheriff, says, "In lawsuits and things of this nature, which invariably are apart of this business, are you accredited agency? That certainly is a mark in your favor."
This is the third time the Leon County Sheriff's Office has been awarded re-accredited status. The first was in 1997.
