Although the reason is unknown, recent studies have found more African Americans get Alzheimer’s Disease than Caucasians.
Dr. Jacqueline Beck with big bend hospice minority council says the problem worsens with the fact that fewer blacks seek help.
To combat the issue, a town hall meeting is being held to raise awareness. Beck says the meeting is for young, old, black and white. The town hall meeting is this Thursday at the Bethel AME Church on Orange Avenue. All aspects of the disease will be covered from medical to legal. For more information call 850-878-5310.
