It's a fact that is hard for many to believe; cardiovascular disease is the number one killer of women.

South Georgia native Barbara Collins says she never even thought about a heart attack until she had one seven months ago. Collins says she considered herself to be healthy, having no idea her cholesterol level was a dangerous 237.

Collins says, "I didn't know if I was going to die or survive, so that's what went through my mind when the doctor told me I had had a heart attack, and the doctor kind of frowned at me a bit and said, do you know what your cholesterol level is?"

Collins says it's not enough to just know your cholesterol number. You also need to understand the difference between good and bad cholesterol.
