Motel Robbery

A Valentine's Day robber is on the loose, hitting up a Tallahassee motel earlier in the day.

Tallahassee police say an armed man robbed the Capital Inn on North Monroe Street. The suspect asked the front desk clerk for money, then fled on foot leaving with an undisclosed amount of cash. He was last seen running south on Monroe.

LT Brian Donaldson of the Tallahassee Police Department says, "Suspect's described as a black male, dark skin with approximately five to seven days growth of a beard. He was wearing a black ski cap, a black leather or suede-type jacket, blue jeans. He was armed with a small, silver pistol."

DEP Jay Vaughn of the Leon County Sheriff's Office says, "You want to give up whatever he's asking for. If you got some money that he's wanting, you to give him, give him the money. If he's trying to take your purse, give him the purse. Now, if the guy is attacking you or hurting you, then you need to defend yourself, make a scene."

It’s advice from the Leon County Sheriff's Office reminding folks to never fight back in a robbery.

Late Monday night at the Frog Pond apartment complex, a pizza delivery driver fought off a would-be robber. He managed to escape unharmed. That suspect is also still at large.
