A two-mile stretch of US 19 in Thomas County, Georgia was closed for several hours following an accident involving a fuel tanker and a small car. Georgia State Patrol investigators say the accident happened just south of Meigs, Georgia early Sunday afternoon. The driver of the truck and the second driver were transported to Archbold Medical Center in Thomasville, with unknown injuries.
The Georgia Environmental Protection Department was called in to help in the clean up, authorities fear some of the fuel tankers 9,600 gallons of gasoline may have leaked into a nearby stream.
The accident is still under investigation.
