A heads up to motorists in the Rose City, Thomasville police will soon place cameras at several problem intersections.
The Thomasville City Council voted earlier this week to go ahead with installing the cameras.
The Thomasville Police Department hopes the cameras will deter drivers from committing traffic violations. They also hope the cameras will free up officers to perform other duties.
CAPT Ellis Jackson with the Thomas County Police Department says, "It's another tool, it's a good tool that we hope we'll see a difference after a time period to do some actual measurements to see if cameras really make a difference."
The Police Department is still working on a contract with the camera company. They say they hope to have cameras up and operational in less then six months.
