"I was very blessed that they were able to do the treatments here, but it was because of the research prior to me getting the cancer that my doctors here knew what to do and that created me as a survivor."
The Florida Department of Health says in a two-year period in Leon County, nearly 900 people were diagnosed with cancer. Among them, more than half resulted in death.
