'Noleade' to Hit Stores This Week

It was during the 1960's that Gatorade was introduced to the University of Florida campus as an answer to dehydration.

Just recently, a group of fifth graders at the Maclay School in Tallahassee wondered why Florida State University didn't have such a drink.

"It was an idea that came from them just sitting around talking about it and they followed up on it. Now we have a product called Noleade and it looks like they are going to have fun with it," says William Jablon, Principal of the Maclay School.

Noleade is set to hit stores on March 1, with 7,000 units distributed.

"If they've got like a vending machine here, I'm sure everyone would be more than willing to try it since we are pretty obsessed with our school," says FSU junior Ashley Babcock.

"I think it is quite ambitious. I'm glad someone here has decided to take it on and I wish them the best of luck," says FSU junior Cheri Cox.

The product will be bottled by Anheuser-Busch. Currently, FSU has a contract with Coca-Cola to sell Powerade, the official drink of FSU sports.

A spokesperson for the local Coca-Cola bottling company says Coca-Cola supports Maclay school in its efforts with Noleade.
