There’s been a third groundbreaking in Tallahassee this week, this one also in the south side of town.
It's taken two years and more than eight major permits to get the development of Silver Lake Park moving.
The first dirt officially was tossed Wednesday afternoon.
The City Parks and Recreation Department says it has big plans for the south side park including picnic shelters, a parking area and floating docks.
Residents say it's about time the area gets cleaned up!
"I've been waiting for so long, I thought that maybe it might not happen and I'm so proud of the area and the city of Tallahassee,” says neighborhood resident Anna L. Peterson.
City Parks and Recreation says the three-acre park is set for a summer completion date.
