The Southeastern Community Blood Center is reporting a critical shortage of blood. Officials say because of an increased amount of open heart surgeries, the center's supply has taken a hard hit.
Friday, when we visited the center, there were mostly empty chairs. With serving 22 hospitals across 26 counties, center officials say they need your help.
"Donating blood is very easy. It only takes 30 to 45 minutes of your time, and you have a really good feeling about donating and saving someone's life," says Marvin Hatcher, a manager with the Southeastern Community Blood Center.
Right now there is a critical need for O positive, O negative and A positive blood types.
