Arson Arrests

Updated: Wed 10:53 AM, Mar 05, 2003

The owner of a south Georgia restaurant and an employee, have been charged with arson in a fire that destroyed the establishment.

After a lengthy investigation, authorities have now arrested 49-year-old Peggy Lorraine Parr and 20 –year-old Jennifer Barnes.

The two Valdosta women have been released on $10,000 bail. The loss of the Catfish House restaurant along the Cook County – Colquitt County line was estimated at $850,000.

It opened in 1982 as the Little River Barbecue and Fish and had at least one other owner before Parr. The Catfish House attracted residents around the area and out of state and there was often a wait to be seated. However, neighbors and employees say business has slowed in recent months.
